Students are encouraged to be involved in environmental education groups such as Enviro Club and Litter Task Force, all of which encourage the closing of the waste cycle and the elimination of litter around the College. The College has strong relationships with Waste Wise Schools, Keep Australia Beautiful, Cockburn City Council and Murdoch University that enhance this area.
Enviro Club meets every second Monday after school to:
- Growing fruit, vegetables and herbs
- Maintaining the three worm farms and compost bin
- Looking after paper and can recycling
- Learning about waste in the wider community and Running activities such as waste free lunches and competitions.
Students from local Catholic Primary Schools are invited to join us as well. This club is open to students in year seven to nine.
The Litter Task Force is a leadership group that manages recycling, waste reduction and litter reduction throughout the College. Students nominate for a yearlong position which allows them to attend external workshops and events, organise campaigns and learn skills such as applying for grants, managing a budget and public speaking. This is open to Year 8 to Year 12 students.
