The new Emmanuel Dance Academy is arriving in 2022!
Emmanuel Catholic College will be offering a specialist Dance Program for students from 2022 onwards. Starting with students in Years 7 and 8 in 2022, the program will grow over time to become a Years 7-10 program.
The Emmanuel Dance Academy will provide an environment in which students are able to be challenged, will develop dance skills and techniques to a high standard, and create performances that are inspired by the College Values:
We will strive for excellence.
We will show respect, compassion and service to others.
We will be consistent and fair.
We will model Christ in our behaviour.
The Dance Program at Emmanuel will focus on further developing dance technique (Contemporary, Ballet, Jazz, Tap and Hip–hop) as well as providing our Academy students skills to prepare them for a possible career in the performing arts industry. The Program offers students the opportunity to succeed in technical development, dance nutrition, injury prevention, performance, choreography, design concepts, Dance teaching methods and provides connections for development with industry professionals.
Acceptance into the Dance Academy for each year will be via audition only. The Dance Academy is separate to the College Curricular Dance Program and Co-Curricular Dance Companies.
Year 8, 2022
Students wishing to be involved in the Dance Academy in Year 8 will be required to participate in an audition process in Year 7. Successful students will undertake the Dance Academy as one of their elective subjects, as well as attending before/after school training. Students will have many performance opportunities throughout the year, as well as attend a camp.
Year 7, 2022
The Dance Academy for Year 7 is held as an extra-curricular subject, with training and rehearsals before and after school as well as participation in performances and competitions.
