ACC D Division Swimming Carnival 2021

On Friday 26 March 2021, the Emmanuel ACC Swim Team competed in the ACC D Division Swimming Carnival at HBF Stadium. With no ACC Swimming Carnival in 2020, our Year 7 and Year 8 students were excited to represent the College in the pool for the first time.

The D Division is one of the most competitive carnivals. It was great for our students to come across strong swimmers from other schools and push them to another level. Overall, we finished in 5th position, a great improvement from previous years. As mentioned at our team meeting at the beginning of the day, our finishing position was not going to be a representation of our swim team. Our main goal was for everyone to put in 100% effort and enjoy themselves.

Led by our Swim Captains Denzel and Larni, our students demonstrated excellent behaviour and great sportsmanship. Many students swam in multiple events, whilst others did not have a major swimming program. This was irrespective as it is a team competition, everyone playing their part in making our team as successful as they can.  Our student athletes trained hard for this competition. Training numbers were fantastic, a replication of the enthusiasm and commitment from the team.

As always, there were some excellent individual performances throughout the carnival and in 2021 some of our athletes went to the next level. Emmanuel has never held an ACC Swimming Record in the history of the school and some exceptional swimmers have come through the College.

There were a couple of special performances on the day. Year 7 student Kaci was unbelievable in the pool and had her eyes set on two records from the start of the day. In Kaci’s first swim, she smashed a four year old record for the u13 Girls 50m Freestyle event, with a time of 28.13. Later in the day, she also took down the u13 Girls 50m Backstroke record, with a time of 32.53. This record has been held for the last 10 years, a great achievement!

The following students excelled on the day finishing in the Top 3 for their respective age groups.

  • U13 Boys – Danilo (Year 7) – Third Place
  • u13 Girls – Kaci (Year 7) – Champion
  • u14 Girls – Viola (Year 8) – Champion
