Emmanuel’s Greatest Shave!

Year 12 students led the way with Emmanuel’s Greatest Shave in order to raise much needed funds for the Leukaemia Foundation. Students and staff gathered to watch as our volunteers had their heads shaved or ponytails cut off. Donations could be made online, as well as a collection of gold coin donations and the sale of donuts and hot chocolate.

This wonderful initiative raised awareness of blood cancer and how it can develop in anyone, anywhere, anytime — from young infants and adolescents to adults of all backgrounds and genders. Everyday, another 53 Australians will be told the heartbreaking news that they’ve been diagnosed with a blood cancer.

The event was a fun and powerful way to fight back against blood cancer and uniting the Emmanuel school community while learning important life lessons about empathy, humanity, and community service along the way.

All the ponytails were donated to Sustainable Salons to be turned into wigs for cancer patients, while shorter hair clippings were transformed into floating Hair Booms to absorb oil spills at sea

By the end of the event our students had raised a total of $8644 and that figure is still growing!
